Souvenirs of the 18th Century, the nostalgia of Jules Dalou, sculptor of the Third Republic, exhibition
Souvenirs du XVIIIe siècle, les nostalgies de Jules Dalou, sculpteur de la IIIe République
From Thursday, April 18 2013 to Saturday, July 13 2013
Memories of the Revolution.

The Cognacq-Jay Museum presents its own 18th century collections alongside the work of Jules Dalou, the great 19th century Republican sculptor, who drew inspiration from the Enlightenment, swinging between the exaltation of the highlights of the revolution and the nostalgic grace of rocaille art.

Committed artist and "communard", Jules Dalou (1838-1902) celebrated the Republic from its origins, that is to say since the Revolution.

At the Cognac-Jay Museum, fifty sculptures will be exhibited alongside a selection of sculptures dating from the eighteenth century, arranged by theme (heroic scenes, portraits of children, mythological groups, intimate scenes). In parallel, an exhibition at the Petit Palais is devoted to Dalou's entire career, with many pieces from the collections of the City of Paris.
