South American paintings.
From Spring of 2013, Mexican painting is to be in the spotlight as guest of honour at the Louvre Museum in Paris. Visitors are invited to discover a dozen works, scattered among the permanent collection in the Spanish painting rooms: from José Juarez to Cristobal Villalpando, visitors can learn all about 17th and 18th century Mexican art. Latin American art is little-known in France, yet the French public collections contain many such works.
This exceptional exhibition has been organised by William Kientz (of the Louvre) and Jonathan Brown (Institute of Fine Arts).
