The French Open at Roland Garros
Roland-Garros 2013
From Tuesday, May 21 2013 to Sunday, June 9 2013
Game, set and match!
One of the four prestigious Grand Slam tournaments, Roland Garros is nevertheless the only one to be held on clay. The slow surface par excellence, it involves both physical and technical prowess from the competitors who will prepare specifically for the Internationaux de France, or French Open.
Since 1928, the competition has been an annual fixture, taking place in Paris between the last week of May and the first of June, bringing the cream of the tennis world to compete for the trophies which are legendary in the history of the discipline.
The men's singles and women's singles, not forgetting the doubles competitions have seen the world's top players win on this famous court, from Bjorn Borg with 6 victories to Roy Emerson Max Decugis and more recently, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, who remains almost unbeatable with 7 victories in 8 years. In the women's, Chris Evert, Suzanne Lenglen, Monica Seles, Justine Henin, and more recently Serena Williams have made tennis history here.
As well as the singles and doubles tournaments, Roland Garros hosts mixed tournaments, juniors, the Benny Berthet day of exhibitions, and the eagerly awaited Legends Trophy. Off the court, Roland Garros is also a sports village with plenty of new activities for its visitors, whatever their age.
